Lessons

I offer private, one-on-one instruction in piano or flute.

I believe in a balanced approach – one that involves exposure to various styles of music (repertoire), exercises to strengthen fingers and coordination (technique), and workbooks to improve understanding the language of music (theory). For young beginners, this requires multiple books; adult courses usually involve one larger comprehensive book. Regardless of the age of the learner, I will introduce other literature that is specific to the student’s interests and individual style.

Lessons are offered in my home studio in Saint Joseph, MI. Students have the opportunity to use a 5’8″ Baldwin grand piano, or a Kurzweil digital upright piano. I normally schedule lessons weekly or biweekly for either 30, 45, or 60 minutes.

30 minutes $20

45 minutes $27

60 minutes $35

Your first lesson will include a free 15-minute orientation.

Payment for lessons can be made in advance, or on a weekly basis.

Music books will be provided and I will bill you my cost.
